Alabama and Xavier are both making their first Elite Eight appearance in school history.

Bill Self became the third coach in NCAA Tournament history to lead 3 schools to the Elite Eight (Tulsa-2000, Illinois-2001 and Kansas-2004).  See 3/19/2004 for other coaches.

Kansas is in 3 consecutive Elite Eight’s for the first time in school history.

Kansas’ 100-74 victory was the largest margin of victory (26) in a Sweet Sixteen game since Kentucky defeated Utah 101-70 in 1996.
