Gonzaga's 57 points is the fewest points they have scored in 22 tournament games.  Their previous low was 62 against Connecticut in 1999 Elite Eight and against Michigan State in 2001 Sweet Sixteen.

Xavier's victory is the first ever tournament victory for Sean Miller.

Brigham Young is now 0-4 as a member of the Mountain West Conference.

With Brigham Young's loss, they now break the record for most tournament appearances without a final four at 22.  They were previously tied with Missouri with 21.

Duke's loss ends a streak of 10 years playing in the Second Round and 9 years playing in the Sweet Sixteen.  The 10 years was the second longest active streak behind Kentucky's 15.  The 9 years in the Sweet Sixteen was the current longest active streak.  Villanova is the only school remaining in the tournament that has been to the Sweet Sixteen each of the last two tournaments.

Virginia Commonwealth's victory is the first ever tournament victory for Anthony Grant.

Michigan State is now 4-0 against teams from Wisconsin.

Marquette's 49 points is tied for the fewest that they have scored in 58 tournament games.  They also scored 49 against Duke in 1994 Sweet Sixteen.

With UCLA's victory, the Pacific Ten Conference is now 8-1 vs the Big Sky Conference.

UCLA is now 20-1 when playing in the state of California.

Weber State's 42 points is the fewest that they have scored in 21 tournament games.  Their previous low was 51 against Georgetown in 1995 Second Round.

With Ohio State's victory, the Big Ten Conference is now 7-0 vs the Northeast Conference.

Vanderbilt's 77-44 (33 points) victory is the largest margin of victory for Vanderbilt.  The previous high was 20 when Vanderbilt defeated Boise Stae 92-72 in 1993 First Round.

It is also the largest margin of victory for a 6 seed vs an 11 seed.  The previous high was 29 when North Carolina State defeated Southern Mississippi 114-85 in 1991.

It is also the largest margin of defeat for George Washington.  Their previous worst defeat was 20 when Indiana defeated George Washington 108-88 in 1999 First Round.

George Washington's 44 points are the fewest that Vanderbilt has allowed in 17 tournament games.  The previous low was 58 against Western Michigan in 2004 First Round.  It is also the fewest points that George Washington has scored in 14 tournament games.  Their previous low was 51 against UAB in 1994 First Round.

With Texas A&M's victory over Penn, the Big Twelve Conference is now 4-0 vs the Ivy League.

The 52 points that Penn scored is the fewest that Texas A&M has allowed in 13 tournament games.  The previous low was 43 against Bradley in 1980 First Round.

Butler is now 5-2 as an at-large bid.  They are 1-4 when they have had an automatic bid.

The 46 points that Old Dominion scored is tied for the fewest that Butler has allowed in 12 tournament games.  They also allowed 46 against Mississippi State in 2003 First Round.

Old Dominion's 46 points is the fewest points they have scored in 11 tournament games.  Their previous low was 52 vs Tulsa in 1995 Second Round.  The 57 points scored by Butler is also the fewest that Old Dominion has allowed.  The previous low was was 59 vs New Mexico in 1997 First Round.

With Georgetown's victory over Belmont, the Big East Conference is now 6-0 vs the Atlantic Sun.
