Memphis enters the tournament with at least 30 wins for a record 4th consecutive year.  The team that has the most 30 win seasons in which they also received a tournament bid is Kansas with 5.

Louisiana State is now 3-0 when playing in North Carolina.  Butler is now 0-2 in North Carolina.

Butler is now 1-5 vs. teams from the Southeastern Conference.

Butler's loss marks the first time they have lost a first round game in their last 5 tournament appearances.

Texas A&M is now 2-0 vs. Brigham Young

Texas A&M is in the second round for the 4th consecutive year.

With Brigham Young's loss, they extend their record of the most tournament appearances without a final four with 24.

Brigham Young is now 0-6 since joining the Mountain West Conference.

Brigham Young ends the decade 0-6 which ties Pennsylvania with worst tournament record for the decade of 2000-2009.

Brigham Young is now 1-5 as a #8 seed.

Brigham Young's loss is the record 17th time they have lost their first round game in the tournament.

Northern Iowa has now lost 5 tournament games, but all of them have been by 5 or fewer points.  They are the only school to lose at least 5 games but never to lose by more than 5.

North Carolina is now 26-1 when playing in the state of North Carolina.

North Carolina is in the second round for the 6th consecutive year which is the longest active streak.

Maryland is now 21-2 in the first round.  That is the best record for anyone with 5 or more tournament appearances.

Connecticut's 103-47 victory over Chattanooga is the largest margin of victory (56) in 70 tournament games.  Their previous high was 29 when they defeated Chattanooga 100-71 in the 1995 First Round.

Connecticut's 103 points is also the most points that they have scored in tournament history.  Their previous high was the 100 they scored against Chattanooga in 1995.

Connecticut is now 2-0 vs. Chattanooga.

Connecticut is now 16-1 when playing on Thursdays.

Chattanooga is now 0-3 vs. teams from the Big East Conference.

Chattanooga is now 0-7 when playing on Thursdays which is the worst record on Thursdays in tournament history.

Chattanooga's 47 points is the fewest they have scored in 13 tournament games.  Their previous low was 51 vs. Maryland in the 1983 First Round.  Connecticut's 103 points is the most Chattanooga has allowed.  The previous high was 102 vs. Kansas in the 1994 First Round.

Washington is now 3-0 when playing in Oregon.

Duke is now 2-0 vs. teams from the America East Conference.

Mike Krzyzewski becomes the first coach to win 70 game in NCAA Tournament history.

Duke is now 28-5 in first round games.

Duke is now 29-4 when playing in the state of North Carolina.  That is the most wins by anyone in any state.

Duke is now 7-0 on March 19.  That is the best record on March 19.

Oklahoma is now 3-0 vs. teams from the MEAC.

UCLA is in the second round for the 4th consecutive year.

With the win, Ben Howland now has 14 tournament wins as coach of UCLA passing Jim Harrick for second all-time in UCLA history.

Western Kentucky is now 1-1 vs. Illinois.

Illinois is now 2-1 vs. teams from the Sun Belt Conference.
