Syracuse is in their 19th Sweet Sixteen and their 2nd consecutive.  Jim Boeheim will be coaching in his 15th Sweet Sixteen, all for Syracuse.

Ohio State is in their 12th Sweet Sixteen and their first since 2007.  Thad Matta will be coaching in his 3rd Sweet Sixteen and his 2nd with Ohio State.

Ohio State also played Tennessee in the Sweet Sixteen in 2007.  Ohio State won that game 85-84.

Syracuse, Ohio State and Purdue are now tied with Wake Forest for a tournament best 3-0 on March 21.  Georgia Tech was 3-0 on March 21 before the loss to Ohio State.

The loss is Georgia Tech's first in Wisconsin in 6 games.

Michigan State is in their 15th Sweet Sixteen and their 3rd consecutive.  Tom Izzo will be coaching in this 9th Sweet Sixteen, all for Michigan State.

Cornell is in their 2nd Sweet Sixteen and their first since 1954.  Steve Donahue will be coaching in his first Sweet Sixteen.

Cornell's 87 points is the most they have scored in 7 tournament games.  Their previous high was in their first round game against Temple when they scored 78.

Wisconsin is now 1-6 when playing on Sunday's.  They are 20-9 on all other days.

West Virginia is in their 8th Sweet Sixteen and their 4th in 6 years.  Bob Huggins will be coaching in his 6th Sweet Sixteen and 2nd for West Virginia.

Duke is in their 25th Sweet Sixteen and their 2nd consecutive.  Mike Krzyzewski will be coaching in his 19th Sweet Sixteen, all for Duke.

Duke is now a tournament best 23-0 when allowing fewer than 60 points.

Xavier is in their 5th Sweet Sixteen and their 3rd consecutive.  Chris Mack will be coaching in his first Sweet Sixteen.

Purdue is in their 9th Sweet Sixteen and their 2nd consecutive.  Matt Painter will be coaching in his 2nd Sweet Sixteen, both with Purdue.


Purdue is now 3-0 in single overtime games.  They are 0-1 in double overtime games.

Texas A&M is now 0-2 in single overtime games.  They are 1-0 in double overtime games.

Eleven different conferences are represented in the Sweet Sixteen.  Since 1985, 1991 was the only other time that 11 different conferences have been in the Sweet Sixteen.
