Mike Davis becomes the third coach to coach in 7 different rounds of the tournament (excluding third place games).  Rick Pitino and Jim Calhoun were the first two.  Rick Pitino coached Boston in an opening round game in 1983 and later coached in the Championship games in 1996 and 1997 for Kentucky.  Jim Calhoun coached Northeastern in an opening round game in 1984 and later coached in the Championship games in 1999 and 2004 for Connecticut.

With their win tonight, UNC-Asheville becomes the first Big South school to win 2 tournament games.  They also won an opening round game against Texas Southern in 2003.

UNC-Asheville is now 2-0 in overtime games.

Clemson wins their first tournament game since 1997.  The win ends a 5-game tournament losing streak.

Clemson now has 9 tournament wins, but zero wins against a BCS conference school in the tournament.
